Big news and a slight delay
Thanks for all the encouraging messages of late. The bad news is there is a delay on the album and we are looking at a January 2009 availability date. This is unfortunate, but things have been pushed back as Hugh and his fiancee Louise have announce that Louise is expecting their first child.
Recording will begin in ernest soon. Thanks once again for all the support.

UK TOUR!
We're counting down the days at Hughie central to the big UK tour 2008. This tour involves 9 shows over 2 weeks in the old country. Including DNY playing the wychwood festival in Cheltenham, Hugh's first show in his Father's native Glasgow and 4 shows in the channel Islands with Jersey Bob!

Cheers to all fan/friends and pets who made 2007 such a huge year for us at McGinlay central. It was a bumper year for album sales and shows, we are grateful (he write from his palacial perch somewhere in the bahamas).
IN 2008 Hugh will be heading back to europe and recording and releasing ALBUM NUMBER 2! The working title for this is 'Atlantis' and it should be released in November. There will also be exciting new projects, recording with Desperately Not Yoko and plenty of shows right across the globe.

Brisbane tour II (the revenge)
Heading north again with mates Floyd Thursby and the Definite Article. I'm playing bass for Floyd and playing solo in support.
For those of you who don't know Floyd's work he is single handedly making polka cool. Impossible you say? well you're on my site so you should know nothing is impossible (except me working out how to put my tour photo's on the web!)

Christmas Show
Hey All. Me and the Recessive Genes are doing one last show in this huge year we've had. It's a week before Xmas and it's at Bar Open. 317 Brunswick Street. It'll be 5 bucks on the door and I'll be sharing the evening with the beautiful Tim Downey and his band, the little souls.
Also, my old mate Richie Putnam will open the night with his elegant songs and dry wit.

Empress show
Yes I realise there's great TV on wednesday nights but how are you gonna look your grandchildren in the eye if you never partied midweek but had seen every episode of House! Come to think of it how are you gonna have grandchildren if you don't meet that special someone! Everyone looks handsome at my shows, maybe cause I'm so damned funny looking. Just six bucks!

Marquis of Lorne residency
Hugh will be playing Tuesday nights at the Marquis of Lorne Hotel in Fitzroy in June. The Marquis is a cool little pub in George Street (corner of Kerr) and has housed some of Melbourne finest talent. Yep, we're surprised too. But come down and have a glass of vino at this great venue any of the Tuesdays in june.

The Launch happened
Thanks to all who came down to the launch. T'was a great succuss and the band and I had a great time. Sold heaps of CD's and will now not be seen as I'll be resting in my greek villa in Vienna (yes, this is what growning up in multicultural Thornbury does for your geography). Debut Album
Hugh is currently working on his debut album Second Guess at 30 Mill Studios, West Brunswick. It will be released in 2006. Look out for the first single Good Looks, to hit the general public early in the year.

Australian songwriters association
Recently Hugh was made the President of the Victorian branch of the Australian songwriters association, which runs a songwriters night at Bar Open in Fitzroy on the last Wednesday of every month. Hugh also works as a freelance journalist and fiction writer.
