Bio
Hugh McGinlay was born in the U.K. in 1980 but was in Australia before he could talk and in Melbourne before he could walk. After a pleasant but unremarkable childhood he decided that as it was only his well being he was risking, to have a crack at being a singer. At the time he hoped he would one day sing well in a cafe and a girl would smile at him. He was 17.
Many years later he's been in a half dozen bands, has traveled around the world playing, released 3 E.P.s, two full length albums and has been smiled at by at least two girls. He tours Australia and surrounding planets extensively. Aside from solo work he sings plays guitar and sings in alt-folk group Desperately Not Yoko, as well as writing fiction. He currently lives in Melbourne with a girl called Louise (whom he married in 2008), their two children, Eliza and Cormac and a cat called Minka.
He is very approachable and enjoys Jamesons Irish whiskey. Approaching him with the whiskey is a sure way to get on!
